Getting Started With Form Editor

We built Form Editor from scratch - based upon user feedback.  We are very excited to introduce the absolute easiest way to both fill out & distribute forms!

Introducing Form Editor!

Form Editor makes it incredibly easy to fill out forms, and unbelievably simple to publish the forms for users to fill the forms out.

Getting Started

To see Form Editor in action, from the DocQ My Docs homescreen: (https://docq.com/app/mydocs) change “mydocs” in the url to “forms”, or (https://docq.com/app/forms).  Or, if you are already logged into DocQ, just click here.  You will now see a document listing.  This is a simple way to view your documents:

If you haven’t uploaded a document yet, just click upload to get started.  From this screen you can now:

  • Click view to see the document (best for filling out forms)
  • Click edit to see the document in the editor (best if you need additional editing tools, or if you want to add fillable form fields to your document like this example form)
  • If it isn’t published yet, click publish to do so.
  • If it is published, click share to get the link to the document.

Filling Out Forms

If you just need to fill out the form, click view.  You can now view and fill out the form:

The navigation bar at the top of the page provides easy access to the save & download buttons, as well as the view options for zoom levels:

The annotation tools for filling out forms include:

  • The Typewriter Tool
  • The Signature Tool
  • The Highlighter Tool

The Typewriter Tool (Filling out forms):

To begin filling out the form, select the typewriter tool, click on the document, and being typing:

Note: You’ll notice when a text annotation is selected a toolbar appears above the text.  These tools allow you to move the text, change the text size, or delete the annotation:

The Highlighter Tool (highlighting text):

To highlight, just select the highlighter tool, click on the document and being dragging.  You can move, resize, and delete highlighting as well:

The Signature Tool (Digitally Signing):

To sign the document, select the signature tool and click on the document where you want to sign.  Then, use your mouse to sign:

Pretty simple!  When you are done, just click the save button to save the document, or download to download a PDF locally:

Publishing Forms

If you need to distribute a form and receive the responses from others, from My Docs click publish, then click share to get a link to the form:

You can now share this URL link to the document via email, instant messaging, social media, carrier pigeon, or however you want!  You can also link to the form from your own website like this:

Note:

  • This document contains fillable form fields, feel free to fill out the fields
  • Click download to keep a copy, or click save to submit your form.

If you would like to add fillable form fields like the above document, click edit, then follow the instructions in this article.  When you are done adding the form fields, remember to save the document, then navigate back to: https://docq.com/app/forms to obtain the link to the form.

So how does this actually work?  When your recipients click on your link, their web browser will open with the blank form which is ready to be filled out:

After filling out the form, they can click download to keep a PDF of the form, or click save to submit the document back to you.  They have the option of entering in their contact information:

If they provide a valid email address, they will immediately receive a link back to their document:

You will get an immediate email notification as well:

Note: If no contact information is provided, you will still get an email notification, but the document will be marked as anonymous.

When you view the document now, all the form responses are available as links on the left side of the screen:

Clicking on the links to the forms on the left allows you to browse through your responses:

Notes: 

  • To unpublish a document, just delete it.  
  • If you are the form publisher you can see all of the responses, however your recipients will not be able to see any other responses - only their own.
  • To get back to the original document in the list of responses, just click blank form at the top left.
